Thomas is becoming increasingly aware of gender differences, both actual and perceived. He is also starting to have fun with wordplay, something Mara and I quite enjoy.
At the diner, munching on a cheese toasty:
"Hey Daddy?"
"Yes Thomas?"
"Boys don't like girled cheese sandwiches."

One summer at my mother's house all the cousins were into having grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch. My mother thought she was clever and bought both the yellow cheddar and white cheddar American Cheese singles (plastic cheese as we like to call it). It just so happened that the girl cousins preferred one variety and the boy cousins preferred the other so they started calling them "girled cheese" and "boyed cheese" sandwiches depending on the variety that was desired.
D'oh! And we thought Thomas was the first to come up with the whole "girled" cheese business. Guess there are no new ideas under the sun, eh? :)
